Our Happy Place Announces Emotional Wellness Grant to Bristol Public Schools

CONNECTICUT, May 6, 2021 /Newswire/ -- The non-profit Our Happy Place announced its first grant today to the Bristol Public School system with the goal of supporting children and families navigating childhood anxiety and other mental health challenges. The grant will enable the district to build on its existing efforts to equip teachers with leading edge capabilities to best support its 8,000 students district-wide.

“We have many friends and family members who have navigated anxiety and other mental health challenges during their lives. With rates of childhood anxiety and other mental health needs climbing, we founded Our Happy Place out of a deep commitment to serve educators and families who are navigating these challenges,” said Our Happy Place Founder Stacey Tank. “Bristol Public Schools have already fully embraced the need for training to equip teachers to best support students’ social and emotional health. Our grant will enable further teacher training and materials support for students to build on their strong foundation.”

The funding provided by Our Happy Place will directly support the implementation of prevention and intervention programs within Bristol Public Schools. “We are grateful to Our Happy Place for supporting the implementation of evidence-based programs within Bristol Public Schools,” said Michael Dietter, Deputy Superintendent of Schools. “Specifically, this generous grant will fund the training of two staff in the Triple-P Positive Parenting Program, a methodology that focuses on developing positive relationships and attitudes between and among parents and their children,” Dietter added. The District will also use the funds to purchase lending resources and activities for family and student use.
